Individual Sound Sessions (30-40 minutes each)
· Traditional sound healing session
o In a traditional sound healing session, we use highly resonant instruments such as crystal singing bowls, chimes, or a tongue drum to surround the client with sound in a wide range of frequencies, entraining the mind and body to respond to the frequencies and enter a state of relaxation which promotes the body’s natural healing responses.
o In a drum session, the deep resonant tones of the buffalo drum are used either alone or in conjunction with music, to entrain the body systems to a slow steady beat, inducing a state of profound relaxation. Often people use a drum session to allow their mind to work through difficult issues, sometimes in the form of dreams or visions.
o In a therapeutic music session, a trained therapeutic musician plays responsively, observing the client while playing and adjusting rhythm, pitch, mood, and style of music in real time to provide the best possible atmosphere for healing relaxation. While therapeutic music is traditionally done with a harp, an electronic keyboard using gentle piano settings is also highly effective and is what we normally use.
o In a vibroacoustic session, the client lies on a specially modified standard massage table. The table contains low-frequency transducers which carry the bass tones of the music into the client’s body, providing a relaxation and healing experience like no other.
o Traditional sound healing instruments, therapeutic keyboard music, and drum sessions can all be combined with vibroacoustic therapy.
